Is this a book for beginner knitters? Not exactly, but it does contain a very basic mitten pattern and a few other fairly simple ones. Most of the patterns are at an intermediate to advanced level, and the book includes three patterns for "experts." The patterns are graded by difficulty level (from 1 to 4). It contains a significant technical section, mainly related to mittens: I'm a knitting teacher, so it's only natural that I include some tips and advice.
